Classification of main automotive wiring harnesses:
Main wiring harness – distributed in the chassis, engine compartment, and a small part inside the cabin.
After the main wiring harness, some small wiring harnesses can be classified, which are: left front door wiring harness, right front door wiring harness, rear door wiring harness, roof wiring harness, back door wiring harness (trunk wiring harness), antenna wiring harness, front bumper wiring harness, rear bumper wiring harness, positive cable, and negative cable.
Cockpit wiring harness (body wiring harness)——mainly distributed in the cabin.
Instrument wiring harness – located inside the instrument panel.
Engine wiring harness – distributed on the engine.
The functions of the six common wiring harnesses in cars:
- Engine wiring harness: A collection of wires that connect various engine components and systems, responsible for transmitting power and signals, connecting the engine control unit, sensors, actuators, etc.
- Body wiring harness: The wiring harness that acts on various devices and systems on the body of the car is responsible for transmitting power and signals, connecting car lights, instrument panels, air conditioning systems, audio systems, etc.
- Instrument wiring harness: A collection of wires connecting the instrument panel and the driver’s control panel, responsible for transmitting various indicator lights, instruments and control signals on the instrument panel.
- Lighting harness: A collection of wires that connect the vehicle’s lighting system, responsible for transmitting power and signals, connecting headlights, taillights, turn signals, etc.
- Front and rear windshield wiring harness: acts on the electronic equipment and sensors on the front and rear windshield, responsible for transmitting power and signals, such as used in wipers, rain and light sensors and other equipment.
- Seat wiring harness: A collection of wires that connect the electronic devices and sensors on the seat, responsible for transmitting power and signals, and connecting seat heating, ventilation, massage and other functions.
