What are FAKRA connectors?
FAKRA, abbreviation for the German term “Fachkreis Automobil”, traces its origins back to the use of radio antennae in automobiles. Nowadays, it has evolved into a standardized RF connection solution widely accepted by the automotive industry, demonstrating its versatility as a general purpose connector. FAKRA connectors are typically encapsulated in a plastic housing, which is color-coded for easy user identification. At the same time, its unique keying design can effectively prevent misplugging or mismatching. In addition, these FAKRA connectors are equipped with a locking mechanism to ensure that the connectors are secure during installation, thus ensuring accurate installation.

The KONNRA FAKRA connector and I-PEX RF1.13 jumper cable assembly series are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the automotive industry for a wide range of applications such as asset tracking, self-driving vehicles, cold chain monitoring, intelligent parking systems and electronic toll collection. We offer 14 different colors of FRAKRA housings to meet the needs of diverse applications. As shown in the figure, FAKRA housings are classified according to the code, there are A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, Z code, each code corresponds to a unique color and its specific application areas. C, D, I and Z codes are the most common.
Performance of KONNRA’s FAKRA Connectors
As far as our standard FAKRA connectors are concerned, in terms of electrical properties, Fakra connectors frequency range is 0-6 GHz, the KONNRA Fakra frequency is DC-6GHz, the impedance is 50 ohms, the maximum value of V.S.W.R is 2.0:1, the maximum value of return loss is -10dB, the working voltage is 170V/50Hz, and the insulation resistance is 1,000 megohms. In addition, the cable loss is 2.0 dB/m max at 900 MHz, the conduction impedance is 1 ohm max, the admitted power is 1 W. In terms of physical attributes, the cable has an outer diameter of 1.13 mm, a length of 150 mm, an operating temperature range of -10°C to +60°C, and a storage temperature range of -10°C to +70°C.
